Foucault pendulum · plane precession
A free pendulum keeps swinging in a fixed plane while the Earth rotates underneath it. The apparent rotation rate depends only on latitude λ: a full turn per sidereal day at the pole, none at the equator. Tracing the bob over a compressed day draws a rose whose petal count is set by ω_F.
