Wave interference · N moving sources
Every source sends out the same circular wave; at each point the displacements simply add. Where the crests of two sources arrive together the surface swings twice as far (bright), where a crest meets a trough they cancel (dark). Moving the sources sweeps the fringe pattern, which is exactly how phased-array radar, ultrasound beam steering and noise-cancelling headphones aim or erase a wave.
